A good friend of mine and I have talked at length about the value of having a process. Usually this is done under cover by the artist as he toils away on a private obsession trying to craft the most attention getting thing he can muster. In the spirit of this conversation I've decided to throw open the doors and ask friends and confidants to comment on the songs I've been toiling over for the last two years. I started this project in 2008 on the heels of having finished two albums of songs in less than a year. I think the passage of time either makes us faster or slower. In this instance it made me the slower. John Frusciante of Red Hot Chili Peppers fame makes albums on the premise of the deadline using the deadline as the modus operandi. I'm too much of a procrastinator to submit myself to this kind of torture for a venture I mostly don't get paid for. But I digress.

Here, for your enjoyment, are the tracks in their current form. I'm asking you to help me make this album so please feel free to give constructive criticism, unless it really sucks! That address again if you missed it: http://www.dankinsley.com

A while back I bought a new Dave Van Ronk album, on which the following song was featured. I really loved the lyrics and decided to go way off into left field for the musical treatment. I recorded the drums into an old four-track machine and distorted the crap out of them before running the audio into my main recording software (Reaper). The only instrumentation present are keyboards, drums and vocals. Here are the results:
